WPA members enjoy a discount at the Santa Monica Pier Paddleboard Race & Ocean Festival, Saturday, June 9th featuring elite and fun races for both SUP and paddleboarders as well as a luck of the draw SUP-only relay race. Spend the day celebrating decades of paddleboard, lifeguard and surfing history at the Santa Monica Pier, one of the birthplaces of paddleboard racing.
Enjoy dory competitions, live music, hula competitions and a large waterman’s history “pop-up” museum. See antique boards, artifacts and learn about the two paddleboard race teams that had clubhouses on the Santa Monica Pier in the 1940s – including a women’s only club!
The event is presented Honolua Surf Co. and sponsored by Quickblade Paddles, Subaru of Santa Monica and ZJ Boarding House.
Last year 5,000 spectators came to the event, which is a benefit for Heal the Bay and its public marine education facility, the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. Heal the Bay will receive a portion of net proceeds from the event.
The family fun happens all day on Saturday, June 9th, from 8:30 am to 3 pm.
