Ahua, a Portuguese surfing start-up, has kicked off a crowd funding campaign for the creation of the first stock of alaia boards made of cork.

The innovative project has already developed several boards which were successfully tested in waves. Ahua produced bodysurfing and handplane prototypes with Portugal's leading natural product: cork.

Cork is a light, green and buoyant material that can be used to make water sports equipment, although it is popularly known in the wine industry. Watch the Ahua boards in action, here.
