Let your mind go blank and your body limp. Stretch out on a beach mat and inhale deeply the clean fresh air. Feel the warm sand through your toes and the hot sun shining over your body. Taste the fresh coconut water as it rolls between your parsed lips and over your tongue. Your eyes get lost in the clear blue sky, and sounds of the softly lapping ocean water lull you into peacefulness.
The golden sands stretching from one end of the beach to the other, surrounded on all sides by the luscious greens and browns of the soothingly silent mata-atlantica. The loveliness of Sao Paulo’s litoral norte begining to embody your every sense of being. “Yes”, you affirm, “This is how my life is supposed to be lived”. Your soul awakening again to the beauty of simple living and being truly alive. Your body and mind drifting away into sweet serenity.
And then you hear it. The voice. Who’s voice? That of the earth or that of your soul. Perhaps both are the same thing. At first it’s more of a magnetic force. An attraction of energies. And then it reverberates with words somewhere in your brain. “Come on in, the water’s lovely”.
Your eyes regain focus over the silky water rolling in from the open ocean. Swooshing onto shore and back out again. The endless rollers breaking gently, one after the other. Your gaze moves from one end of the beach to the other, then along the mata-atlantica and out to the horizon. Deliciously calm, enticing water. It calls to you again, “Come on in, the water’s lovely”.
You’re on your feet, hands resting on your hips, looking over the ocean. Off come the sunglasses. You stretch your arms across your body, lean your torso from side to side, and shake out your legs. “Alright, I’m going in the water” you announce to noone in particular. You’re already walking towards the it, drawn to it like the love of your life.
The water sloshes over your feet, up over your knees, and then you dive under. Swim a couple of strokes through the golden-green and blue waters before popping up some moments later. Stand chin deep and feel the invigoration of the delightfully cool water refreshing you in every way.
You tread the water, looking back over the beach and onto the surrounding greenery that always has a calming effect. Feel a sense of well-being and goodness rolling over you, your spirit rising and your body relaxing as the salty water keeps you buoyant.
Then you turn and look back out over the horizon. There is a sense of endless peace covering the water’s surface. Your gaze drifts to the clear blue sky, and you let your eyes close as your mind absorbs the feeling of oneness with nature.
As you tread the water you can extend your legs upwards. Your body lies flat and facing the sky. Your arms and legs are stretched like a starfish, though still limber and relaxed. And that’s it. You’re floating. Like on a cool pillow of clouds your body lolls to the movements of the water, rising up and back down with every breath you take. Your mind grows more and more empty as you live entirely in the moment. There is nothing but the now. Hopefully you are not even thinking this, you won’t realize it until later.
Just floating on the water and going with the flow is sublime; it’s the pace at which life should be lived: trusting and living in nature, feeling the positivity of life in all aspects of your existence. If a friend swims nearby and asks what you are thinking you can reply, with a big smile, “Nothing, literally nothing at all”.
It’s a beautiful thing to share the tranquility of emptiness with those around you. The emptiness not being a lack of anything but an abundance of everything. Love, joy, peace, happiness, and glory of the world. This is it. Beauty. Life. Floating.
Float on my friends, float on.
